St. Brigid's Cross- Small

St. Brigid's Cross- Small

Often hung above windows, doorways, and stables to protect against fire and illness, St. Brigid's Cross is one of Ireland's most famous symbols, invoking the blessings of the country's only female Patron Saint.

Traditionally woven from rushes, it's said that St. Brigid of Kildare first created the cross while telling the story of Jesus's Crucifixion to a Pagan Chieftain on his deathbed, converting him to Christianity and miraculously healing him. Later, it's said St. Brigid wove the cross again after being poisoned, neutralizing the toxins and miraculously healing.

Saint Brigid's Feast Day is February 1st, which also coincides with the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc.
